Biography

As both a hip-hop artist and producer, Kayiness, at age 21, has been making headlines in New York’s underground music scene since 2006. Born and raised in Brooklyn, with a period of time spent in Baltimore, Maryland, he has been developing his passion for music since 2002.  Learning first to write his own music, Kayiness enhanced his musical aptitude by learning to play the piano two years after picking up the pen.  This skill is eventually what allowed him to write and produce what he believes will be his major breakthrough album, “Kwalified Koncept King”, still not yet released.

He also took time in between writing this album, to write for the “Kwalified Koncept King” mixtape, released in the summer of ’06.  By promoting the 300 copies of his first project at local venues and talent shows, Kayiness was able to sell all of them independently. But by age 17, the following year, he had already started work on his first official album, “The Future Is Unsigned”, which was released three years later. While recording the album, Kayiness also developed a marketing plan for it, quickly adding videography to his skill set by learning to shoot and edit his own videos. And after learning web design in college, he began using his videos on social sites as promotion for his website where he made his music available.

Though he has had a few unsuccessful meetings with major recording companies in the past and has had to dismantle and rebuild his entire management team, he has found success with his new album. With featured singles such as “A to Z”, “Showtime” and “Rock You to Sleep”, Kayiness has found an audience in the club scene of New York City.  Performing every night in open bars and clubs, he has been able to book gigs at the Brooklyn Public Library, Club Pyramid, local high schools and on the popular music website Sonicbids as well.  The album has also received great reviews from industry insiders and has helped him to be featured as one of the top 25 artists of the year on Indie-Music.

This artist’s time has not grown idle in the past year either as he continues to release new music weekly and build his online following. He has since finished the “Kwalified Koncept King” album, a project that took 7 years overall to complete, and continues to wait until he can release it under a major label. In the meantime he has started work on his third official project, “The Future Is Unsigned pt. 2″, slated to be released in mid April, 2012 and continues to perform weekly in showcases and network for gigs nationwide as well.
